MSAD #51 District Newsletter - March 24, 2025

The first phase of the One Campus project is about to begin after almost a year of design work. We have signed a contract with Benchmark Construction to build the new Facilities/Maintenance Building in the area behind the GHS pool and gym that abuts Hutchins Field. The Turf Field project is the second phase and is expected to begin in May, followed by the new PK-1 school building and MIW addition this summer.

Here's what to expect over the next couple of weeks as the Facilities Building project gets underway:

• On Tuesday, several trees that sit on the site of the new Facilities Building will be removed.
• A construction trailer will arrive and perimeter fencing will be set up around the construction site.
• The backside of the GHS gym/pool/STEM wing will be fenced off and no longer accessible down to Hutchins Field.
• There will be about a half dozen parking spots in the GHS pool side lot that will be taken out of service during the project.
• The fire lane will primarily be used for construction vehicles entering and exiting and the gate will be closed to all other traffic, including access to the field house.
• Access to the pool and GHS staff parking lot will remain open and usable throughout the project, with the exception of the areas already noted.
• Access to the track and field inside the track will remain open and usable throughout the project.
• GHS Spring athletic home games that typically use Hutchins Field will be relocated to other venues.
• Please make efforts to avoid this part of the campus as construction begins. Once the turf field project starts in May, the construction perimeter will expand and more details will be available as we get closer to that time.
