From the Superintendent
In the meantime, we need to make some changes to the campus in order to better design the learning environment and allow for appropriate play spaces and green space for the short-term. In terms of a longer-term plan, the Board is reviewing all options and will keep you updated and involved as we go through this process. The only action taken thus far was to extend the option agreement on the land at 80 Gray Rd in North Yarmouth for up to 5 years. The prior agreement would have expired in November and the new agreement keeps this parcel available for us if we need it. We can exit this agreement if we do not need the parcel. We thank the land owner for keeping this option open.
Each year at this time, we compile demographic and academic data for the SAD and present a public report. Director of Academic Services Susie Robbins and I shared the 2022 Annual Report with the Board on January 3. This report gives a snapshot in time of our district's profile and is worth a look.
Regards,
Jeff Porter
Congrats to the 57 newest members of the National Honor Society who were inducted on Thursday night at a ceremony at the GCA. 11 seniors and 46 juniors took the NHS pledge for their efforts meeting the four pillars of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Many thanks to the chapter's co-advisors, Melissa Fowler and Dina Lattanzi, for their organization of the ceremony. Also thanks to NHS president RubySkye Maze for serving as master of ceremonies and GHS teacher emeritus Doug Pride for giving the keynote address.

Community Partners
Our Community Partners are strong supporters of various areas of the school. Without them, our students would not have many of the wonderful opportunities and experiences that they receive.
CLYNK Bottle Drive - January 17-20
Let’s recycle together and raise funds for our schools! Join the Greely PTO for a CLYNK bottle drive from January 17-20th. Pick up CLYNK bags and tags from a PTO volunteer at MIW and GMS drop off or pickup during those dates. MIW students can also ask their teacher for a bag/tag and GMS students can pick up at the front office. Then it’s as easy as saving your bottles & cans from the holidays, filling the bag with them, tagging the bags and dropping them off at any CLYNK Drop-Off location. Proceeds will go directly towards MSAD51 enrichment programs! More info can be found here. Thank you for CLYNK-ing together!
