Quick Reference from Nurses

Are you home sick today?

You may return to school if you have a doctor’s note OR a negative COVID test AND you have been symptom free for at least 24 hours without medication.

Have you tested positive for COVID-19 and have no symptoms? 

You must stay home for at least 5 days. Day 0 is the day the positive test was performed.

  • If you continue to have no symptoms, you can come back to school after at least 5 days.
  • If you develop symptoms after testing positive, you must stay home for another 5 days after symptoms start.

Have you tested positive for COVID-19 and have symptoms that are improving? 

You must stay home for at least 5 days. Day 0 is the first day of symptoms started.

  • If 5 days have passed AND you are fever-free with improved symptoms (without medication) for at least 24 hours you may come back to school.

Have you tested positive for COVID-19 and have symptoms that are NOT improving? 

You must stay home for at least 5 days. Day 0 is the first day of symptoms started.

  • If after 5 days, you continue to have fever OR other symptoms that have not improved you must stay home. You may come back to school when you are fever-free with improved symptoms (without medication) for at least 24 hours. 

*Everyone who tests positive must wear a well-fitting mask around others at home and in public until day 10 (day 6 through day 10). If they are unable to wear a mask when around others, they should continue to isolate themselves for 10 days.

Pooled Testing Enrollment Deadline Extended to January 20

Please note that if you would like to enroll your student in the MSAD #51 pooled testing program, you must complete the enrollment process by Jan 20th at 3 pm.  Students who are enrolled by this deadline will be added to pools during the week of Jan 31, 2022.

There is a two-step process to sign up for pooled testing.  If both steps are not completed your student will not be enrolled.

Step 1

Complete the online registration at the Concentric by Ginko website by clicking the link below:

When prompted, enter this school-specific access code:

*It is extremely important to select the correct school and use your child’s full legal name during this registration, otherwise our data will not merge and there will be delays in adding your child to the pooled program!*

Step 2:  

Print, complete and return the BinaxNow consent form to your school nurse.  You may turn in the form via fax, email, or turn in a hard copy directly to the school nurse.  Contact information is below.

*If you have already submitted a BinaxNow consent form to your school nurse to allow testing due to symptoms you do not need to submit it again as part of the pooled testing process.  

When will my student begin pooled testing? 

Students who were enrolled in pooled testing before the Jan 20th deadline at 3:00 pm will be added to pools and begin pooled testing in the week of Jan 31st.

Pre-K Lottery is Now Open!

MSAD #51 (Cumberland-North Yarmouth) is pleased to announce that we will continue our small public Pre-K Program for 32 students (16 each session) starting in September 2022.

The program will run half days (morning and afternoon session) four days per week (M, T, Th, F) for approximately 145 days during the school year.  The program is located at Mabel I. Wilson school and is in partnership with Child Development Services.

In order to be considered, your child must be 4, but not 5, years old before October 15, 2022 and you must be a resident of Cumberland or North Yarmouth.  

Screenings will take place via Zoom for eligible children during the week of February 14-18, 2022.

If interested, please fill out the interest application (https://forms.gle/117RtGtmNmYP3ct97no later than Friday, January 28, 2022.   

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration for MSAD #51 (Cumberland-North Yarmouth) will be held January 24th - January 28th, 2022. If your child will be five years old on or before October 15, 2022, they are eligible to attend kindergarten this fall. You may drop off completed registration packets to the MIW mailbox or mail, scan/email or fax in the completed packets. You will need to provide a picture of your child’s original birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency to complete the packet. 

If you have a student currently enrolled in a private school and would like them to attend Mabel I. Wilson School in the fall, please register your child during that week as well. 

To obtain registration forms in advance please visit our website (www.miw.msad51.org). We want to ensure all incoming students are included in the placement process for the 2022-23 school year. If you have any questions, please call MIW at 829-4825.
